Poverty Watch Ontario Launch (2008)
Poverty Watch Ontario is a new website that is intended to monitor and inform on cross-Ontario activity on the poverty reduction agenda.
Poverty Watch Ontariois a joint initiative of the Social Planning Network of Ontario and Ontario CAMPAIGN 2000. These organizations have partnered since early 2008 to promote a cross-Ontario community dialogue on a poverty reduction strategy for the province. The immediate opportunity is to have input into the provincial consultations in the spring of 2008 on a poverty reduction strategy for Ontario being led by the Hon. Deb Matthews, Ontario Minister for Children’s and Youth Services. SPNO and C2000 along with other provincial organizations and local networks are helping and supporting the participation in the consultations of low income people and all community stakeholders in a poverty-free Ontario.
Through this web site, Poverty Watch Ontario will maintain a log of community events on poverty reduction across the province and provide opportunities for further discussion of the issues and policy approaches raised at these events.
Poverty Watch Ontario will attempt to monitor and inform on cross-Ontario activity on the poverty reduction agenda.
